DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Craig M Hammond, Associate AIA, NOMA, holds a M.Arch.I Master of Architecture degree from Cal Poly Pomona and a Business degree from Walla Walla University. Craig is the Principal and Design Director at Hammond Habitat Design Studio and he established the firm in 2008 and is the recipient of AIA design awards.

At HHDStudio, Craig focuses on projects of all sizes with a large emphasis on mid-century modern restoration and custom residential design. Hammond Habitat Design Studio focuses on delivering sensible and well-crafted design in residential, renovation, restoration, commercial, educational facilities, and civic projects. Craig has 15 years of teaching experience at Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, CA, and has taught courses at College of the Desert in Palm Springs, CA.

Craig‘s projects have been on Tour for multiple Modernism Week events and remain an inspiration to modernists architecture lovers around the world. He has spoken at the Palm Springs City Hall regarding Mill’s Act Submittals and at events for the American Institute of Architects. He has also held the distinct honor of being elected to serve on the Board of Directors for AIA Los Angeles and AIA California Council.

In addition, Craig is an avid Airstream enthusiast and spends his free time traveling in his 86’ Vintage Airstream Motorhome “Silver Sanity” which doubled as a Mobile Architecture Studio during the pandemic.
